Beauty on the Go: Ten Beauty Essentials You Need in Your Travel Bag
When planning a trip, many women are inclined to pack every beauty product they own, “just in case”. However, with just a few essential products, any woman can look her absolute best while on the go.
High altitude and dry cabin air can wreak havoc on your skin during plane trips. Regain moisture by applying a thick, creamy facial moisturizer before boarding, then reapply as needed during and after your flight. In addition to facial moisturizer, good hand and body creams are important as well.
Shampoo and Conditioner
Let’s face it: hotel hair products are often less than desirable. And even if your particular hotel provides high-quality shampoo and conditioner, the sizes are rarely adequate enough for more than one or two uses. For fabulous hair, bringing your own shampoo and conditioner is a must.
Lip Balm or Gloss Dry
Chapped lips are never a good thing. Keep your pucker moist and supple by keeping your favorite lip balm or gloss on hand at all times. Choose one with sunscreen for added protection.
Exfoliating Body Wash
There’s nothing like a long trip to make your skin feel its worst. An exfoliating body wash will slough off dirt, grime and dead skin cells to leave your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated.Sunscreen Sun damage doesn’t only occur during the summer months. In fact, winter sunlight can contain even more harmful rays than summer sunlight. Using a generous amount, make sure to coat any exposed skin, and reapply as needed. Don’t forget your throat, neck (front and back) and hands. Also, tinted sunscreen is a great option for days when you don’t have time for makeup.
Facial Cleansing Wipes
These are great for those times when you’re either too tired to wash your face, or when soap and water aren’t available (like during outdoor activities such as hiking or a trip to the beach, or during a train, plane or car trip). Many cleansing wipes have built-in moisturizer, and will remove dirt, oil and makeup to give your skin thatfresh, just-washed feeling.
Hair Dryer and Curling/Flat Iron
This one’s a no-brainer. If you use these appliances on a daily basis, then they’re essential for travel. For international trips, don’t forget voltage adapters!
When choosing which makeup products to take on a trip, remember this one simple rule: less is more. You won’t need 4 shades of nail polish or half a dozen lipsticks. Instead, choose one each of your favorite products. Since it won’t smudge or run during days in the water or sun, waterproof mascara is a great travel companion. One or two lip shades should suffice. As far as nail color goes, get a manicure beforehand and bring along a matching shade and clear coat for on-the-go touch-ups.
Hair Products Once again, products you use on a daily basis should be brought along on your travels. In order to free some space and lighten the weight of your travel bag, you can purchase hairspray, gel, mousse and hair serum in travel-sized containers. To avoid spills, don’t forget to store these necessities (as well as other liquid products) in separate bags orcompartments.
Perfume or Body Spray
Never leave home without your favorite fragrance. Lightly layer scented body wash, lotion and perfume or body spraylong-lasting, but not overwhelming, effect.
