There are a multitude of healing herbal teas that are flavorful and a welcome addition to your nutritional regimen. These teas can help soothe pain, ease stress and treat disease. Tea can be brewed easily and conveniently using tea bags. It is also possible to brew more potent tea formulas by using loose and organic herbs. These loose herbs are sold in health food stores. Steeping these loose herbs is a simple process. Simply boil eight ounces of water. Remove from heat. Stir in one heaping tablespoon of dried herbs or three level tablespoons of fresh herbs. It stimulates secretion of digestive fluids by reducing congestion and inflammation. Ginger also bolsters the immune system and reduces the risk for blood clots. The preparation for ginger tea requires a little adjustment. Only steep it in hot, not boiling, water.
Ginseng is an herb that is well-known for its energizing properties. It also boosts the immune system and invigorates libido function. Ginseng contains steroid-like plant chemicals that promote proper hormone functions. It is best to drink ginseng tea between meals.
Nettle is the next herb. Nettle tea reduces inflammation and acts as a diuretic. It is ideal to alleviate allergies and asthma. This is because is deactivates mast cells which release histamine. The last herb to review is peppermint. Any mother knows that peppermint is known to ease the stomach pains of a colicky baby. This is due to its ability to increase circulation to the digestive tract. It improves the flow of digestive fluids, thereby calming intestinal spasms. Peppermint also suppresses mouth chemicals that contribute to bad breath.
As with any increased consumption of herbs, be aware of possible interactions between an herb and pharmaceutical drugs. Always consult a doctor before using herbal teas, especially if you have heart disease, diabetes, ulcers, gallbladder problems, a bleeding or seizure disorder, or a kidney or liver disorder, or if a person is anticipating surgery. Specifically speaking, chamomile, ginger and ginseng need to be discontinued two weeks before any surgical procedure.
