Travel Tips for Female Travelers
Female travelers are a special group that many airlines and travel related agencies look to for overall improvement in the industry.
Especially since according to The Gutsy Traveler, 80% of women make the travel decisions. This is a huge number and an impressive statistic if you own a travel agency, tour operation, hiking trail guide, travel blog, etc. Think about it, according to the article linked to above at The Gutsy Traveler women are the ones who research and book the family trips. Not only that, but women also account for 75% of those who take adventure related trips.
If you’re one of these women, below we present 6 good tips for you, the female traveler.
- Carry Essentials – Some females like to bring only the bare minimum on a trip to avoid extra baggage to carry and pay for while on a flight, while others will bring as much as they possibly can. Regardless of the type of flier you are, most everyone has a few essentials they never fly without. This could be a comfy pillow, eye mask, certain type of make up and grooming, special reading material and so on. Personalize your travel experience by carrying your top essentials whenever possible.
- Plan Ahead – The early bird gets the worm. You’ve heard this a gazillion times before and it may or may not apply to you, but one thing is certain. When you plan ahead, you benefit in various ways; such as getting a reduced rate on your flight, hotel and rental, better accommodations thru planning, gather invited family members on a tight schedule and more. Some women travelers start planning a trip 3 to 6 months in advance while others plan just a few weeks in advance, best part is – you get to decide what time period of pre-planning feels right to you.
- Bring A Piece Of Home – Everyone loves a good vacation, but there’s no place like home. Well you can bring a piece of home with you on your trip. This could be a favorite blanket, pillow case and sheets, lucky hat, fun gadget, etc. It doesn’t matter, anything is up for grabs and you’re only limited by your imagination. So bring that lucky flask and feel comfortable knowing that even though you may be far away, a piece of home is with you.
- Look For Travel Deals – What would an awesome vacation be, if you didn’t save a nice chunk of change in the process. You just have to be careful that your smart and frugal ways don’t end in hot water. This means that the sweet Caribbean cruise vacation package for less than $5,000 for seven days and 6 nights for 6 (you just spotted on Groupon) does not include food, drinks, a view or much else. Save but know exactly what you’re getting and if you can live with it, then bon vogage.
- Be Safe – Women travelers can have a great vacation in any city and state in the world, but following certain guidelines can keep you safe from potential harm. Many of the guidelines are common sense ideas that should be applied at all times, not just when globe trotting around the world. Try not to do night excursions, walk alone in remote and desolate areas, book in advance, talk to friends and family members about places they have been to recently and recommend.
- Have Fun – Above all else, what good is a vacation if after all the planning, packing and preparation you’re too exhausted to actually have fun. Try a few non planned spontaneous jaunts and activities that will enable you to get loose and have a roaring good time with others or by yourself. This could be a bike ride through a touristy landmark filled area, a tour with locals, a restaurant featured on a popular magazine or TV show, an obscure small town and so on.
